Song: Two-part song with second part lower in pitch: "chee-chee-chee-chee-tche-tche-tche". Pattern similar to Yellow-rumped Warbler but more staccato and emphatic. Occasionally sings only the first part of the song, which can cause confusion with some of the "trillers" (Orange-crowned, Pine, and Palm Warblers, Swamp and Chipping Sparrows, and Dark-eyed Junco). However, sharp, emphatic quality of notes is distinctive.
