Photo: Cliff Wallis © Cottonwood Consultants; Adult; Breeding;
Song: Flight call is a sharp, chaotic, whistled "we we we we we we". Courtship calls are low-pitched "mooo" like a cow. Various harsh whistled calls including a single-note "kip" or "dirp" similar to Western Meadowlark and a coarse grating "grrrtt" flight call.
Sound: William W.H. Gunn (Macaulay Library, Cornell # 62326); 1970 Jun 17; USA, Colorado; Fort Collins (near), Pawnee National Grassland; Adult; Primary Sound;
