Quiz - Question # 1

Photo: Ken Newcombe; Adult; Non-breeding;
Song: The wail is a high-pitched, mournful, and monosyllabic or disyllabic: "weee-eeer", by both sexes. The wail of the male is shorter and lower pitched. There is also a rhythmically repeated "guyarwok-guyarwok-guyarwok" and a sharp duck-like "quack". The wail and calls are very similar to those of the Pacific Loon.
Sound: John Neville (Bird Songs of the Arctic); Canada, Yukon; Southern Ogilvies; Adult; Primary Sound;
