Lewis's Woodpecker - Melanerpes lewis

Photo: Laure Wilson Neish; Adult;
Song: The common call is a squeaky high pitched descending series of "churrrs". Similar to the rattle call of a Belted Kingfisher but higher pitched and more squeaky. There is also a weak "teef" or "kit-sif" sneeze-like contact call. Drumming occurs in short weak bouts, with tentative tempo.
Sound: John Neville (Bird Songs of the Okanagan); Adult; Primary Sound;
