Song: "Chick-a-dee-dee" slower and more nasal than Black-capped Chickadee. Flock contact calls (high-pitched "seep seep") are very similar to Black-capped Chickadee. A sharp "chit" or "chit chit" given more commonly than "chick-a-dee-dee". No whistled song (like Black-capped Chickadee), but does have a musical call, with or without a trill at the end, used during territorial conflicts.
