Calliope Hummingbird - Selasphorus calliope

Photo: tony battiste; 2011 Apr 10; USA, Arizona; Battiste Bed, Breakfast and Birds, Hereford; Adult; Male;
Song: Calls are very high pitched twittering and chirping which may be out of the hearing rage of some observers. Song is a very high delicate whistle "tseeeee-ew". Chase call alternates between rattling and buzzing syllables "tototo zeee tototo zeee..." Male's wings produce a short muffled "pvrrr" during display dives.
Sound: Gregory F. Budney (Macaulay Library, Cornell # 6/4/92 unedited); Adult; Primary Sound;
