Swamp Sparrow - Melospiza georgiana

Photo: Isaac Sanchez; 2012 Mar 8; USA, Virginia; Dyke Marsh Wildlife Preserve; Adult;
Song: Song is a musical trill, sometimes slow enough that the notes are countable (~8-10 per second), but occasionally very fast. Some songs can be very similar to songs of Dark-eyed Junco (though usually lacking the junco's ringing quality). Often, habitat is a helpful clue to identification. Compare also to Pine Warbler, Orange-crowned Warbler and Chipping Sparrow.
Sound: Macaulay Library (Macaulay Library, Cornell); Adult; Primary Sound;
