Red-throated Loon - Gavia stellata

Photo: Ken Newcombe; Adult; Breeding;
Song: The wail is a high-pitched, mournful, and monosyllabic or disyllabic: "weee-eeer", by both sexes. The wail of the male is shorter and lower pitched. There is also a rhythmically repeated "guyarwok-guyarwok-guyarwok" and a sharp duck-like "quack". The wail and calls are very similar to those of the Pacific Loon.
Sound: Stewart D. MacDonald (Bird Sounds of Canada); 1970 May 19; Canada, Northwest Territories; Bathurst Island; Adult; Primary Sound;
