Black-headed Grosbeak - Pheucticus melanocephalus

Photo: colorob (http://www.flickr.com/photos/colorob/5737181165/); USA; Adult; Male;
Song: Song a whistling, melodic, robin-like "cheer-up, cheer-a-lee, cheer-ee-o" with a piercing quality. Sometimes described as a robin that's taken singing lessons, as phrases are more varied and tone is clearer. Distinctive call note a high-pitched "peek" often interspersed in song or given shortly after song. Both song and call notes are very similar but slightly lower pitched than those of Rose-breasted Grosbeak.
Sound: John Neville (Bird Songs of the Creston Valley, BC); Adult; Primary Sound;
