Philadelphia Vireo - Vireo philadelphicus

Photo: davidhofmann08 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/23326361@N04/3018502752/); USA; Adult;
Song: Song is very similar to Red-eyed Vireo, but is higher-pitched and with slightly longer pauses between phrases. An unemphatic, continuous, "see me, see me not" or "I am green, you are not". Usually longer and more irregular spaces between phrases than Red-eyed Vireo, and a weaker tone, but distinguished only with a great deal of experience. Call note is a descending "wanh". Because of similarity to Red-eyed Vireo songs and calls, Philadelphia Vireo records outside the known range require visual confirmation and documentation.
Sound: Monty Brigham (Bird Sounds of Canada); 1977 Sept 3; Canada, Ontario; Marlborough Forest - Richmond; Adult; Primary Sound;
