Song: Flight call is a high-pitched chattering "keert" or "skirrr" similar to calls of Belted Kingfisher. Calls are higher pitched and more clicking than those of Ruddy Turnstone. Gives a long low rattle "krkrkrkrkrkrkrk..." when alarmed. Also gives a rattling "WEE-pa WEE-pa WEE."
