Burrowing Owl - Athene cunicularia

Song: Pairs duet early in breeding season. Male makes a two note nasal trumpeting "coo-coo" female answers with a short clear "eep" or rasping "tsshh". Rasping chatter and chuck notes given by both sexes. When disturbed in burrow makes a rasping rattle similar to warning rattle of a rattlesnake.
